This is one I made after a friend made a joke about Patrick Stewart & Alex Kingston working as a team on a possible project. I thought Picard & River would have a lot in common.
And no matter what you do, don’t tell the Doctor.
In this one, I wondered what Star Trek would be like if it were made in the UK. I though it would be comical to make Rowan Atkinson “aka” Mr. Bean as Captain Kirk with first officer Teddy.
And Up for court-martial after accidentally destroying Starfleet Academy.
As a kid, one of my favorite comics was the Justice League. And my favorite issue has to be #5, the Showdown between Batman & Guy Gardner. At Justice League headquarters, Gardner confronts Batman again about giving leadership of the team over to Gardner. Batman provokes Gardner to fight him. Gardner removes his power ring, lunges at Batman, and is knocked out by a single punch from the Dark Knight. With Gardner sleeping on the floor and out of the way, they attempt to commence with their meeting.
Back in February of 2013, while searching for images of my All-Time favorite Green Lantern G’nort (in re-enactment picture), I found this picture of a Cosplay reenactment of the One Punch Knock-Out of Guy Gardner by Batman!
This is how Howard The Duck #3 starts out: Aunt May holding up a tattoo parlor at gunpoint. And yes, that is Peter Parker’s Aunt May. Don’t believe me?
So who’s behind this foul act? The Ringmaster, a nemesis of Howard’s from back in HTD #1, Vol #25. I love how they keep his history, but I won’t spoil it for you. Go get your own copy.
While I’m enjoying this new reincarnation of Howard, I do miss a few things. I still miss his old look, which was more cartoony. He’s a bit more mellow, but I guess he has grow accustomed to this world he never made. And I miss the cigar…but I guess he can’t smoke like he did in the 80’s.
I also really miss his best human friend, Beverly Switzler. I hope we find out what happened to her!
In the meantime, here’s some music to read Howard by.
Enjoy,
The AFOL Husband.
And thus starts another MAD idea for Second Geekhood by TimeSiren. In love with many of the talented artists on Deviant Art, I wanted to showcase their amazing talent here on our humble domain in the hopes of bringing some beauty to you, the readers, exposing you to something new AND encouraging everyone to support their efforts by requesting commissions from them. Many Deviant artists supplant their incomes by doing what they love and it is pretty obvious from such incredible pieces that they are accomplishing just that. So enjoy, share among your social networks and throw moola at them once in a while so they can continue to bring us such amazing contributions to fandom!
Our first Deviant Artist up is pushfighter. If you read his journal, it is apparent why he can’t be more prolific, taking care of an elderly, bedridden father, but he is very grateful for his followers and is pushing to be active on DA and social media this year. Drop him a note, tell him you saw him on Second Geekhood and really love his work. Caregivers have it tough, as I well know and even we need someone to care for us once in a while.

A beautifully done music video done back in 2011 and featured in our Five & Dime Fangirls Who Crack Video Track project at Gallifrey One in 2012, Last Friday Night can still bring up all those feels of the best of the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith era. River Song haters beware – she’s in here a bit, but that’s because she ruled!
No one can tell me which movie, but I will NEVER forget the scene: a dark basement in a black and white film. Christopher Lee as Dracula, brooding as his minion comes in. He waves long fingers at something on the floor and commands the minion to “Get rid of THAT!,” spitting out the words contemptuously. The camera cuts to a young woman dead at his feet, her throat ripped out.
Telling people outside my age group that Sir Christopher Lee was MY Count Dracula is tricky. Too old, and they say Bela Lugosi (very old and they say Klaus Kinski) was the King of the Vampires. Too young and they say Frank Langella or Gary Oldman. Every actor who has donned the mantle of the Undead Lord has brought something special and wonderful to the part, but Christopher Lee was, without a doubt, among the greater of them.
For decades now, as my husband and I mourn the passing of every great actor in Hollywood and England, we could always say, “At least Christopher Lee is still alive.” That tradition sadly ended last week as the venerable actor succumbed to heart failure.
Many lovely memories of this great man were shared across the internet last week, from Twitter to Instagram. Going through them, I found so many to be so true.
Professor Steve Chibnall, director of the Cinema And Television History Research Centre at at the university, said in part: “Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing were the most recognised faces of Hammer films and now we have lost both of these great actors.”
“Lee was the most disturbingly believable embodiment of Count Dracula, with a chilling screen presence that has never been rivaled. Vampires live beyond death, and the collective memory of Lee’s portrayal of Dracula will be immortal.”
Mark Gatiss of Doctor Who and Sherlock fame, said this of the man on Twitter:
A “Titan of Cinema.” No truer words have ever been spoken.
Rest in Peace, Sir Christopher Lee. You have well earned it.

Equestria L.A. (September 4-6, 2015) is one of the cons Time Siren and I are saving up our bits for. It will be our first My Little Pony con. Even if you aren’t into MLP, you have to admit it’s quite a phenomena. When looking up a pony con near us, I found that there were twenty seven in the U.S. last year alone, and that doesn’t count all the ones from Germany to Japan. Not bad for a half-hour show, aimed at kids, with only four full seasons under it’s belt, and it’s 100th episode coming up.
If you live in the L.A. area, or can make it to Anaheim, you might want to check out our local pony con. Here is some of the latest news they’ve been posting:
June 4: Amy Keating Rogers Rogers returns to EQLA. Ms. Rogers is a writer that has been with the show since it’s first season. Her credits include, “Applebuck Season,” “Bridle Gossip,” “A Dog and Pony Show,” “The Best Night Ever,” “The Last Roundup,” and “Filli Vanilli.”
June 3: Book a room at Equestria L.A.s venue, the Anaheim Hilton and get a hotel key adorned with Andy Price’s art. This is something I have never seen in almost three decades of con going: an electronic hotel room key with exclusive convention art on it! Now, that’s a souvenier!
May 21: FinalDraft to host VA panel. FinalDraft is the premier software program for screen writing. I’ve never seen them host a panel at any other convention. I’m impressed.
May 20: EQLA is offering discount #TwilightTickets for evening entry into Disneyland. If you’re not familiar with area, The Hilton and Anaheim convention center are literally across the street from the Disneyland Resort.
May 19: The original creator of My Little Pony, Bonnie Zacherle, will be at the convention.
You can check out all the news and details at the Equestria L.A. FaceBook page, or on their website. Admission is $60.00 for the weekend, which is pretty standard for a con. While at the website, check out the pictures of their two previous cons. TimeSiren and I are going to go so broke in the dealers’ room…
