Don’t read this or click on this link if knowing about the episode before you see it if that kind of thing will freak you out.

Tonight I read the probable reason I have latched onto this episode as my neck-and-neck favorite with the premiere, “The Eleventh Hour”, and it has convinced me now to propel “Amy’s Choice” into the Number One spot on my favorites list. A review by a Live Journal contributor is a deep introspection into the story and roles of the Doctor, Amy and the Dream Lord in this episode that allow us as merely viewers to fully and truly find an emotional connection with its message that will evolve one’s appreciate for Doctor Who. It is not just someone looking for meaning that is not there. Steven Moffat doesn’t do things without a damn good reason – EVERYTHING in his Universe/Whoniverse has depth and meaning and layers that go deep under the surface, providing a rich and intelligent vehicle for our entertainment.

As just a taste of the indepth analysis into an episode that made me laugh, ponder and sob, here are a few tidbits:

The Doctor (Matt Smith) is helpless against the hypnotic power of sleep wielded by the Dream Lord.

“…this episode truly cements my thesis that 11th Doctor is a teacher/old wise man figure in the magical world of Time…he takes the role of the humbug Wizard, warping reality, torturing us seemingly pointlessly, leading us on a wild goose chase, all while hiding behind the curtain.”

The freezing cold in the TARDIS means more than physical danger for the Doctor (Matt Smith) and companions.

“…the freezing cold, (is) a beautiful symbol of the Doctor’s emotional coldness that threatens Amy. The Doctor can provide her with adventure and growth (as shown in the episode itself), but he cannot provide her with the love that Rory can.”

Last year I studied archetypes with Sensei Ron Thomas and because of those lessons, I completely get this. They are the lessons of life as it is experienced all over the planet, from simply being human, no matter what culture you are from, what continent or what race. Sad though it is that we need to see ourselves through the eyes of an alien Time Lord to fully recognize and appreciate this, it speaks to the richness of the world of Doctor Who and how it makes important cultural and psychological contributions to our growth as human beings.

Open Yourself up to the Possibilities…

Posted on March 10, 2010 by TimeSiren Posted in Journal of the MoonWitch

About two weeks ago, I started doing something different in the meditation I adapted from my 12-week Black Belt in Excellence Training. This is something that was so ALIEN to me, I literally had no idea how to do it and only did it by sheer accident on one project before in my life in the year 2001.

I opened myself up to the universe and the world of potentiality and possibility.

Sitting on the edge of my bed, getting ready to meditate, I had no clue how to go about this. Sure, I could say the words, but would that be enough if I didn’t know how to follow through with action? With outstretched arms, my face tilted to the ceiling, I took deep, grounding breaths, declared my intentions and tried my darndest to imagine what it would be like, at least, to “let go”.

You can only imagine how insanely hard this is when you think of something similar in your own life that everyone said “was only natural”, yet you looked at them like they just grew a horn out of the middle of their head. I.E. – “how in hell do *I* do that?!?” People can blab away all they want in telling you the mechanics, to “just do it” and it will still seem like nuclear physics if you have no point of reference in your own experience.

Still, when something is supposed to be “natural”, and you have faith that the process just works without understanding why or how it works, there is alway hope you’ll figure it out. I am way ahead of the game since I went through a 12-week course in understanding how the process works, but that is still a bit short of actually putting the knowledge into motion. Energy and the Universe take you a LOT MORE seriously when you get off your hiney and do something about it!

I am not talking about a particular hobby or skill, because those are all unique to each individual. I am talking about the Laws of Attraction, Potentiality Possibility, Reflection and Emanation. Weird words if you are not used to them, but getting used to them might just change your life in ways you can neither imagine nor accomplish any other way.

These past two weeks have reminded me what I can do when I look at challenges with a child’s point of view. They don’t understand why they can’t do something. They try and try and try and try until the thing happens. As a child, I practiced every day for what seemed like weeks or months to try to whistle until suddenly one day I did it. And what a loud whistle I whistled when I did it! It was AWESOME!

So, what has happened these past two weeks to make me believe I am finally, after 47 years, really, TRULY opening up and the universe is not only listening, but is throwing new options my way? What I have needed has begun to come to me, begun to flow. Potential clients I have been chasing for literally more than a year have ALL come out of the proverbial woodwork and at last moved on their projects. New projects more profitable than I have ever had before are blossoming before my eyes. The options are coming at last, but there are so many, I think I may need a bigger net.

AFTERWORD – okay, I am now, officially creeped out, or excited. I’m not sure which to be. As soon as I finished this entry – that literal second I finished the word, “net”, my fax machine rang! It is hooked up to the house phone and only rings when the phone rings AND THE PHONE DIDN’T RING JUST NOW!

‘excuse me – the Universe just ran my fax machine…better go answer it!

What's New on the Bead Board

Posted on March 5, 2010 by TimeSiren Posted in Beadwork, Crafting, Journal of the MoonWitch

My latest fancy in the world of beadwork and stretching myself? My beaded bottles. What are they for? What do you put in them? This s a question I get a lot when I wear them. You can use them for perfume, for holy water if you are a vampire chaser *grin*, or for holding essential oils. I’ve done the first and the latter, but haven’t chased vampires since my story writing days, so I leave the holy water to someone else, though I have been known to carry Moon Water in it. My favorite thing is to tell people to put an eyedropper in it so the contents can be taken out easily without spillage. Their eyes usually light up at that.

Though I haven’t put bead to needle in a couple of weeks, I am working my way back to springing off the ideas that sparked these beauties. I want something that will take less time, but still look elaborate and beautiful. Something in a lower price point for those who long to possess these little goodies, but can’t spare the cash for the big items yet.

This one is my favorite. My artistically talented friends think so too, and that is a great compliment. They love the colors and they are REALLY FUSSY with that in their own work. I got them just right…how AWESOME is that?!?

My first experiment with doing this type of beadwork came about with this bottle. The colors symbolize Rosemary and all it’s attributes. Rosemary is a “warm, fiery” herb (symbolized by the red beads). It’s appearance is like an evergreen in the year-round, slim, dark green leaves (hence the green – I even found beads that mimic their appearance perfectly!). The flowers are the same color as rosemary flowers, recreated here with small bunches of stone chips. I’ve received a lot of compliments on the perfectly stitched pattern of white and red beadwork on the body. That was a joy to do and I’m really proud of how it came out. The challenge was in creating the strap. That required several redos and nearly made me tear my hair out, but perserverence paid off.
